This policy explains what personal data Yorkshire Home Interiors Ltd collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website and to buying from us in our Sheffield showroom.

What we collect

• Order and account details — your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number and order history.
• Payment information — processed by our payment providers. We receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits and card type; we never see or store your full card number.
• Enquiries — anything you send us through the contact form, by email, by phone or in the showroom.
• Marketing preferences — whether you have asked to hear from us and how.
• Website usage — pages viewed, device and browser information, approximate location from your IP address, and how you reached us. Collected through cookies and similar technologies.
• Finance applications — if you apply for finance in the showroom, the details you give are passed to the finance provider, who is a separate data controller and will give you their own privacy information.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with organisations that help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:

• Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders.
• Payment providers, including the card and wallet providers shown at checkout.
• Delivery partners and our own delivery team, for orders outside our local area.
• Furniture manufacturers and suppliers, where an item is ordered in or a warranty claim needs assessing.
• Email, analytics and review platforms we use to run the site and contact customers.
• Our accountants and professional advisers, and public authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on UK adequacy regulations or on standard contractual clauses with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for 7 years to meet HMRC requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept for up to 2 years. Marketing consents are kept until you withdraw them, and for a short period afterwards so we can honour your choice. Website analytics data is kept for up to 26 months.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them in four ways:

• Strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, remembering your basket and securing checkout. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent.
• Functional — remembering preferences such as recently viewed products.
• Analytics — understanding which pages are used, so we can improve them. Set only with your consent.
• Marketing — measuring advertising and showing relevant offers. Set only with your consent.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time through the cookie settings on this site, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working, including checkout.

Marketing

We only send marketing emails if you have asked us to, or if you have bought from us and we are offering similar products. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time by replying or calling the showroom. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service messages about an order you have placed.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right not to be subject to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects; we do not make such decisions.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Security

This site uses encrypted connections, and access to customer data is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information and we will notify you and the ICO where the law requires it.

Children

This website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we hold data about a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy regularly and will post any changes on this page. Where changes are significant we will tell customers directly.
