Single, dual or treble motor

A single motor chair such as the Wilton moves the back and footrest together. Dual motor chairs — the Hastings, Kendal, Pickering, Ascot, Oxford and Hexham — let the back and footrest move independently, and the Chester has treble motors for extra adjustment.

Choosing the right chair

A rising recliner tilts forward to help you out of the seat and back down again. Seat height and width make the biggest difference to comfort, so it is worth sitting in the chair before you decide.

Seeing them in person

  • What does a rising recliner do?
    As well as reclining, the chair tilts forward and lifts to help you stand up, then lowers you gently back into the seat.

  • What is the difference between single, dual and treble motors?
    A single motor moves the back and footrest together. Dual motors move them independently so you can adjust each separately. The Chester has treble motors for further adjustment.
